This air conditioning technology has the potential to save up to 70% in the energy consumption of the house, an important advance in alleviating the greenhouse effect produced by other cooling and heating systems.
This technology is the result of increased awareness of climate change by businesses and consumers.
There is now a greater demand for energy-efficient technologies.
In this sense, the real estate sector is one of the main stakeholders in saving energy consumption in housing.

Energy consumption in housing in Spain

In order to put in context the importance of reducing energy consumption in housing, some data can be exposed.
In Spain, according to the Institute for Energy Diversification and Savings (IDAE), the average energy consumption used in the home for heating and sanitary hot water is 65.9% of the total.
Furthermore, according to data from the European Commission, 40% of total European energy consumption comes from housing buildings; 50% of this is generated by heating and cooling equipment.
COP 25 bets on change in the real estate sector to curb climate change
With regard to the celebration of COP 25 in Madrid, from 2 to 13 December, experts recall that the real estate sector, and in particular building companies, can go a long way to curbing the consequences of climate change.
As ASPRIMA Foundation Secretary General Daniel Cuervo states, “the priority challenge of the real estate sector is to take the most innovative sustainability measures in the market.”
For this reason, large industrial companies invest in developing sustainable and energy-efficient technologies to provide solutions in the housing sector.
Energy consumption in housing and aerothermia

Technical aspects of aerothermia

This technology can provide temperatures between 18oC and 35oC, so with the same device it is possible to cool the stays in summer and heat them in winter.
For the use of this system it does not matter the thermal sensation that sits on the outside of the house.
Aerothermia consists of extracting the maximum thermal energy available outside a building and passing it into the building, either in the form of heat (heating) or cold (air conditioning).
The concept of express pot
A concept similar to the espresso pot is used for this purpose.
In an express pot heat is used to increase the pressure and achieve a higher temperature, the curious thing is that this physical concept can work in reverse, increasing the pressure, we can get an increase in temperature.
In this case, with the help of compression pumps, more pressure is obtained in a coolant, which causes an increase in the temperature of the liquid, which is then used to heat the rooms or sanitary water.
Also, thanks to the thermal properties of the liquid, we can also get it cooled by lowering the pressure of this, all this in a closed circuit that does not require any maintenance, since it is closed and no one can handle it.
According to the experts, it is a very clean and versatile technology, because with the same device we can be able to cool or heat the environment. The system is also very efficient because it consumes less energy than it produces.

European Community targets

This shift towards more efficient technologies becomes necessary at a time when the EU, through Directive 2018/2001, is committed to an increase of 1.3% per year in renewable technologies in heating and cooling and 1% in centralised systems to avoid further damage to the climate situation.
This directive aims to change the current housing stock to a fully efficient and environmentally friendly one in order to achieve the objective of achieving buildings with a zero carbon footprint by 2050.

Aerothermia will revolutionize our homes.
